Don't have one.
adopt a bear.
Tue 30th Oct, 2007
This Christmas, adopt a polar bear and help WWF safeguard the future of this beautiful species which is under threat from climate change. The latest addition to WWF's adoption range is a unique gift for friends and family, and every adoption will help fund vital projects to conserve these magnificent creatures in the Arctic. Many polar bears now have less time on the sea ice to hunt for food and build up their fat reserves. A recent report by the US Geological Society predicts that changes in sea ice will result in the loss of about two-thirds of the world's polar bear population by 2050. If we don't take action to avert the current global warming trends, polar bears may become extinct within 100 years. WWF is working to help conserve polar bears with research, community based work on reducing human and wildlife conflicts and the creation of protected areas. WWF also campaigns on climate change to encorage everyone - businesses, individuals and governments to tackle our rising carbon dioxide emissions. Adopting a polar bear couldn't be easier. No need to travel to the Arctic. Simply visit wwf.org.uk/adoption and pay as little as £2.50 a month to adopt one of the polar bears living in the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic. The polar bear adoption package provides a certificate, a print of your animal, facts about the species, a greeting card, tips on a 'greener' lifestyle, WWF screensavers and a soft toy. Adopters will also receive updates, three times a year providing further information on the polar bears and WWF's work in the Arctic.
