I was just wondering what everyone's reasons were for taking part in this and what message they were trying to get across in the art they are doing?

Eeerrrr . . . tricky.

Been going through a tough time at the mo, and found that my level of creativity was well below parr - for being a truly creative soul.

By being involved in this project: it is a way for me to recoup some artistic-ness; to contribute in a small way to worthwhile charity that is personally important to me; to prove to myself that I can/still have that arty-farty touch; to chat to others from all over the place whom I normally wouldn't meet; to offer advice where I can on any art skills that I may have; to have fun and enjoy looking at the various squares of other individuals personal creativity.

I think that just about covers it - for now.

Sorry, I was going to put mine but I had to dash off elsewhere before I could type it up, but I thought I might as well get the thread going. smiley

My reasons... the obvious ones are the ones mentioned on the site; we're here because we all like art and we want to use that talent (mine is somewhere hiding behind the radiator at the moment) to raise money for charity to help others. smiley

Oh a personal level I like to be involved in anything that brings people together. This is a lovely place to see a whole host of other peoples art that I would have probably never had another chance to see. I'm already exchanging messages with a lot of people and making friends (I'll email you in a little while J smiley). Being able to talk to others and throw ideas around and give and receive advice. I don't think there is anything about the project you can fault because everyone will benefit from it.

Also all of my art (for the moment) is purely something I do for enjoyment; I don't get a lot of comments on it because it is something I do for myself, not as a profession. I like receiving comments and it's a booster for me because I'm being told where I can improve and what I am good at. I keep meaning to do a website for my work but never find the time, so this is giving me insentive to finish it, play around on the canvas more often and hopefully get some work exibihed. smiley

I think it is indeed very good to support such a number of good causes as those mentioned below - its great to see you guys all have such an interesting story to tell for why you feel so passionate about the project.

Keep it up, very impressive smiley

I found this place through deviantART and thought it looked fun. I used to draw on sites with similar software, but the system wasn't always great, and this is going toward something wonderful.

That and the fact that making progress on my webcomic isn't always a fun thing to do. D=

(Besides... It's not like I've anything else to do between classes...)

Stupid college;
TimeConsuming dayJob;
college = (Stupid)dayJob;

>_>

My art simply conveys what's in my head--not much.

I came from the ad on DeviantART and I was curious. I love getting involved with these kinds of things, and wanted a universal theme, and love takes up so much of someone's being that it's the first one I thought of. I wanted to leave a little of me on it, so a did a portrait of Laurie (my husband) and I.

i guess when i came here i didnt know wat to expect with wat was going on at this site. but after trudging around through few areas i picked up the pace. i participate like many others to encourage and support this project. it is a great concept and it makes people feel better about themselves especially when they know they have contributed in really making something recognisable to a good cause.

the message in the work doesnt really come across as an actual message.. just more of an expression and practice of my cultural style. since im born in a western nation, this is a sort of way for myself to connect to my ethnicity. there are many asians out there feeling misplaced and stuck in the middle, known as "banana" =yellow outside white inside. people tend to misunderstand us, something im used to really.

I was poked by my friend, we are both on DA but I didn;t see the news there about this. However once here I just had to sign up and instantly drew something. *Is a doodle-whore* Then I read around and discovered that it would be exibited and as a new graduate seeking the next step in my artist career (lets hope), I became intrigued. The clincer to donating was seeing the cancer charity. My dad died from a brain cancer this September so it has a very personal connection to me.

Thus, I am here and its great to meet so many interesting folks.

I just found about this place in a magazine, and thought it would be quite fun but also for a good cause, so I didn't feel like I had any excuse not to...

basically it seems fun. also knowing an artist's presence and pure aim to contribute to a project that's for a good cause and the collaboration of an individual with people settled on different parts of the globe is really motivating. smiley

I also joined after hearing about the site through the DeviantArt promotion. My reasons for joining this project is simple: Helping other people makes me feel good. smiley I like knowing I've made a difference and I'm a strong believer in "What goes around comes around"... While I don't have the money right now, I'm going to make a donation once I'm able [which should be very soon].

I'm not really trying to get a specific message across with my winter tree- I'm a tree lover. Ever since I was in high school, I've doodled trees. They're my favourite subject.
