About Bruce Chidovori

Bruce Thabani Chidovori born in 1977, Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to paint. As a young boy I spent much of my spare time drawing and painting. In the fourth form I joined an art class where I was awarded a distinction along with Art Prize. I was very lucky and had a fantastic tutor who encouraged and gave me the confidence to pursue art as it clearly was and is my passion. At the age of 20 I taught my self-new techniques and found myself experimenting freely with an unrestrained approach. I continued painting creating my own rules and approach by use of acrylic on fabric, as I would do on canvas. My paintings are primarily contemporary with a African-Anglo approach to bridge the gap between both cultures, although my new work contains references towards figurative work. I get ideas for my work from everything and anything. Colours, personal experiences, structures in the city or random objects, in contrast, to more natural subject matter giving me constantly varied compositional ideas for my paintings.
