Real faces are so complex, subtle and unique and I find it amazing that we can still convey the whole host of human emotion through even simple images. Two dots and a semi-circle and there is that comforting image of a smile that we all recognise, not so dis-similar to the famous painting of the smiling woman in the Louvre by Leonardo Something-or-Other.

A strange bias towards bright yellow faces suggests we may have been watching too much Simpsons!

a universal language we share.. smiley faces have become symbolic in a sense.. i found many also. lol yellow is another symbolic feature and i dont have to explain something we all know. i loved drawing smily faces like these wen i was little.. we all have drawn something like this and that makes it kinda comforting that we all share this common behavior
