Hello I'm Ben, I'm 29 and live in the UK. I am a painter and graphic designer/artworker.
I have been really impressed with this idea as a project.
Yet to settle on an idea for my section of the masterpiece but hoping I can do justice to the final outcome.
Would be great to hear from other artists out there, I love oil painting and my works are usually abstract colour field paintings, however starting to explore new avenues/directions.

Nice to meet you Ben. I'm trying to slowing branch into using oil paints, but I'm an acrylics fan myself. Have fun here and look forward to see how it all progresses. smiley

Hi Emma
really like your picture, reminds me of cornwall holidays, Oh I wish I was at the beach right now!
Oils are great, you can mess them about loads, but the only problem is they take ages to surface dry, and even longer to dry properly. I haven't used acrylics that much as I prefer to have the fluidity (is that a word) any way i prefer the freedom oils give you. However i should try and start mixing between them!
Good to hear from you anyway,
take care

Hi Ben. I've just got back from surfing on the very beach my picture is based on. You are not the first to say they want to be at the beach. All of you should just go and come down and go run in the sea. Freedom in an ever changing place off the land, every time it is different.

I will have to play with oils soon. I've got a week off work so extra play time. smiley

Why the idea for a jigsaw? You say "life is a puzzle" (too true) but I look at it thinking maybe it is to do with the work of art as a whole, since it's all pieces of a jigsaw in a way, pieced together.

Hey Emma

just got back from the park! So wish I had a beach! The closest I got to running in the sea was feeding some ducks!
To be honest about my picture, it is partly to see what other people were going to put next to it, as at the time there was nothing below or to the left of it, and I just wanted to see if anyone would carry on the puzzel. Don't get me wrong I am not some sort of control freak who wants the picture to turn into a million jigsaw masterpiece!smiley I just though it woul be interesting to see if it had any effect on what people would put next to it, and obviously it has had no effect! The one thing I love about this is that you can change you pic, so I will be changing it at some stage soon. The whole lifes a puzzel, is just that it is, it's never easy, and like the pictures you can always change things however small the changes they can make a difference! Sorry I am now babbeling on.
Cornwall what a great place to live, must be awesome, I may well move down there later on in life, would be nice to chill by the beach, and get inspired like the St Ives group!

I like the change. Very colourful. smiley

I think what is next to can have a slight effect on your own work. I got a message from the person next to me saying I'd match up against their lines quite nicely and it wasn't intentional on my behalf... probably more at a sub-conscious level perhaps...

I live in North Cornwall and we don't have the same art group as St Ives does but we try. Beaches are good for the mutt to run around on at least. smiley

Hey Emma

How ae things with you? Yet again I have changed my painting!
I went down to Devon recently and got inspired by the sea and it has led on to my new pic! What do you think? not quite as colourfull but I think it has a bit more atmosphere, now I sound really pretenshus (excuse the spelling mistakes)
Hope things are cool with you.

It is looking rather warm... best way to view it is to have a tall, cool glass of something alcoholic. smiley

Everyone should move to Cornwall. It's the land of chill and stress free living. smiley

My legs hurt today! But I raised £600+ for Cancer Research so the legs will just have to put up with it!
