greetings.

it's the summer and so i'm on break from college at the moment. last night i logged onto deviantart and read one of the journals of one of my friends who linked to this page. i was amazed at this project and knew immeditately that i would like to be a part of it. and the whole idea of linking it to charity is perfectly wonderful. what a great way for people to give back to the community and get their art/stories out there as well.

i'm a photographer really, but i joined this collaboration anyway. it's crazy how hard it is to try and draw something with a mouse when you can't really draw in the first place. smiley right now i'm keeping it simple and working more with the experimentation of color and line, but maybe i'll change it later to an actual drawing.

anyway.

hello everyone!

Hi Johnathan.

Believe me, it's pretty difficult to draw with a mouse even when you are meant to be an artists. Mind you, some of the pictures on here already are great so obviously someone can do it!!!

I think the secret is layers. Just watch how J has built up this one:

wow.

*stands in awe*

i will definately have to work and work and work to get something to my liking. i think it's a great thing that i can keep updating the picture to something i like instead of being stuck with one.

*off to think of ideas*

Wonder why it's called a 'Mexican' wave? Anyways, I *waves*.

Thanks Jonathan, pay ya later for the compliment . . .

Mind you - more is not always 'more' if you know what I mean. Sometimes, LESS is more - simplicity can be very impactful, I believe.

And what you have so far is cool, as you have a nice flow of line to indicate the face and hand which needs a steady hand and eye co-ordination. Hence my avoidance of very fine lines, easier for me to use the big fat brushes and blend till the cows come home. Your compostion is great too, which may come from your photography skills.

Look forward to any more development - but also looks good as is!

Cheers.

Jacqueline

hey emma!
*waves back*
devaintart definately is amazing...

howdy jacqueline!

HAHA! you can keep your money. the compliment was free. smiley

i think i'm still trying to find my niche in the artistic world and so i'm open to try most anything. i've been sticking to lines alot which my drawing teacher has been kindly trying to push me away from... but at the same time i find it hard to get the defined lines that i want.

i love different compositions. sometimes i think i'm too symetrical in my approach, but if you don't start with the basics, how can you learn to break the rules, right?

thanks for the kind words!

*runs off to work more ideas*
