Hi Joe
Sorry been a while since I have been on here. The weather is warming up now so no more skiving for me. I am in demand again and will be more and more in the coming months so will be on here less and less. Still it was fun in the winter. Made a change from doing the housework!!
Having just said all that have I actually mentioned I am a Horticulturalist? Not a gardener! Say that and people think you spend your life weeding, cutting grass and trimming hedges. I do rather a lot more than that. In fact I don,t do lawns and hedges at all, far too boring.
Do you know where we are with numbers on the OMM? It all seems to have slowed down rather a lot or is that because they are deleting the black squares. I thought we would have reached the world record by now. At this rate the exhibition will be the year after next!
Would be wonderful if an OMM child from every country represented could go I agree. It would be a memory of a lifetime I think.
My children won't be going. Jack who has done a picture on here I think just did it to please his mother and hasn't been active at all. He doesn't see the point really. Bruce my older son still hasn't done an image I keep nagging him but he is doing his exams prior to college this year and has an incredible amount of coursework so I cannot really complain.
Speak to you soon again (hopefully)smiley Moira

In response to brian:
Yeah, I like the game, I've played on friends' WoW accounts, but I still prefer guild wars. Most WoW players will swear on their life that WoW is better, but most haven't tried Guild Wars.

Um, on the plus side, you don't "rent" the game you buy it. You pay for it once, BAM! its done.

There are not a lack of people, but each person gets there is no waiting for quest items to spawn or anything. there are 2 types of sections, "town" sections, and "wilderness" sections. You pretty much get your own personal wilderness section (unless you have some friends in your group with you), so you wont meet random high-level players who want to kill you randomly in the wilderness.

Um, grafix are much better than wow... well.. more realistic, WoW has a cartoony look going for it, GW is shiney-er

This can be viewed as good or bad: the maximum level is 20, after that, every time you level up you just get more skill points. This means you wont have some hulking level 400 bullying around some level 10s.

Um, the skill points are re-distributable at any time within a town area, as well as the skills.

You can multiclass, and change that if you so desire.

big world to explore, um, yeah, I guess its worth it. Try out the trial thingie if you're interested.

OH, guild wars 2 is coming out soon, its supposed to be a really awesome sequal, so you may just want to save your money for that.

Geeez. I'm such a nerd, I need to go beat myself up, steal my lunchmoney, and throw me in a trashcan right now.

HEY MOIRA

YEAH IT IS GETTING A BIT WARMER HERE TO SLAMMED UP A COUPLE OF WALLS IN THE BASEMENT AND I AM ABOUT TO BUILD A NEW STUDIO. IT WILL BE A 12 FOOT BY 20 FOOT SPACE WITH LOTS OF LIGHT. I AM QUITE KEEN TO GET STARTED ON THAT. MIGHT SLOW DOWN MY OMM-ING TOO.

SO WHEN YOU SAY HORTICULTURALIST WHERE WOULD YOU SAY YOU FIT IN MOST IN THAT FIELD, LIKE GENETIC ENGINEER, BREEDING PLANTS, MAKING MEDICINE AND SPICE, CROP YIELD, FRUIT, BERRIES OR……?

YEAH IT HAS SLOWED A BIT AND LIKE YOU SAID THE DELETION OF BLACK SQUARES IS PROBABLY THE REASON.

I THINK AS SOON AS THE OMM GETS ENOUGH MEDIA COVERAGE IT WILL REALLY TAKE OFF.

TALK TO YOU SOONER

Sounds like you are a bit of a handyman as well as an artist! Must be quite exciting building your own studio to work in. Must mean you can have everything just how you want it. Do you exhibit any of your stuff anywhere? Have I asked you that already? Sorry if I have but can't remember.

Where do I fit in? I am a garden designer, landscaper, plants expert and garden consultant. Would love to be a plant hunter combine travel and plants. would be my idea of heaven. Can see myself now trekking through the interior to find a plant no one else has discovered and naming it after me..dream on...maybe in another lifetime.smiley

YEAH IT IS QUITE NICE TO HAVE THE DESIGN FREEDOM AND THE SAVINGS ON LABOUR IS ALSO NICE. ALSO THERE IS NEVER ANY WORRY ABOUT THE FINAL PRICE, WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE FIND INTIMIDATING.
I JUST HAVE TO FIGURE OUT THE MATERIAL COST.

I HAVE HUNG MY STUFF IN DIFFERENT GALLERIES AND ALSO IN A FEW RESTAURANTS.

COOL I DID LANDSCAPING IN HAWAII. IT WAS PRETTY WILD. I THINK I WROTE ABOUT THIS ON A SQUARE BUT….
I WAS WORKING FOR A COUPLE OF GUYS WHO JUST FINISHED THEIR DEGREES AND STARTED A LANDSCAPING BUSINESS. I DON’T KNOW IF THEY WHERE LUCKY OR JUST HAD CONNECTIONS BUT MAN THE CLIENTS WHERE LOADED BEYOND ANYTHING I’VE EVER SEEN.

ONE PLACE WE PLANTED THESE PALM TREES. COULDN’T BELIEVE IT FULLY GROWN. 10 000 EACH, WITH A CRANE AND ALL. THE OWNER “BIG JOHN” DIDN’T LIKE TWO OF THEM. AH JUST THROW THEM OUT AND GET A COUPLE NEW ONES…..

ON THAT PROJECT WE PLANTED THIS SPECIAL GRASS ON A HILL THE SIZE OF HALF A FOOTBALL FIELD. TRUCKLOADS. WE FINISH IT AND WE GET THIS MONSOONISH RAIN. ALL THE GRASS WASHES OF THE SIDE OF THE HILL. WE WHERE SUPPOSED TO PUT THESE PEGS EVERY SO OFTEN TO HOLD IT I GUESS. BUT WE DIDN’T.
THE OWNER JUST ORDERS MORE TRUCKLOADS. DOESN’T SAY A THING ABOUT IT.
A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE PROJECT IS FINISHED THE LADS BACK INTO “BIG JOHN”’S MERCEDES LITERALLY SMASHING THE FRONT FENDER AND HOOD BEYOND RECOGNITION. AH DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT GUYS….HE SAYS.

PLANT HUNTER SOUNDS LIKE A VERY COOL WAY TO SPEND YOUR TIME.
IM SURE YOU WILL DO IT. THERE ARE ALWAYS NEW SPECIES DISCOVERED. DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN TREE THAT WAS AROUND IN DINOSAUR TIMES THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LONG GONE. IT WAS FOUND IN SOME HARD TO GET TO VALLEY. IT HAD ONLY BEEN SEEN IN FOSSILIZED FORMAT BEFORE.

PEACE OUT JOE

Heh, while gaming does take up a lot of my life, I actually do enjoy sports a bit as well. I can't stand watching them on T.V. but if you get out a soccer ball, or challenge me to a sparring match, (as long as I'm not planning on taking a nap) chances are its going to happen.

I actually intend to probably go to college and learn how to do things like make levels for video games, possibly characters, or something along those lines. I have a friend who went to college for essentially the same thing, and as of right now she does professional 3d concept designs for houses, buildings in general, and parks. Unfortunately my computer isn't good enough to handle all the programs that were used, but it does sound interesting.smiley

Many people bought your stuff Joe? and what kind of paintings do you do? Just oils or do you do other stuff? I don't know if you have heard of her but my favorite (living) artist is Gilly Johns. You can google to see her pictures. I love the simple almost childlike quality of her work apart from her the other paintings in my house are all by relatives. My bruv who is on here does amazing cartoon stuff, he once painted all the South Park characters in my sons favourite football teams' strip all around his bedroom walls. My mum uses oils and puts it on with a trowel so it has a wonderful 3D effect and my older brother is a graphic designer and does the most incredible line drawings. One of a knight on a horse (very L.O.Rings) is made up completely from dots!
I on the other hand cannot paint draw or anything else. I make up for it by creating beautiful gardens. It was very nice when I first joined the OMM to get a comment from you. My picture was such utter crap although it was from the heart. You and Angeli were the ones who made me stay active on here cos you bothered to take a look and both managed to say nice things which must have been quite difficult!!!smiley I have noticed since I did the space monkey thing that the people who comment on mine now are completely different to the ones who commented before. I doubt you remember my original pic but it was very family lovey dovey and I had lots of youngsters comment on it saying how it made them homesick. Now they avoid me like the plague!! In fact the only people who comment are the ones who have been around long enough to understand the space monkey thing.
I have a few well oiled customers I have to say but I also do a couple of charity jobs which works out very well cos I take the plants out of the gardens that the wealthy don't want and I give them to the poor...oooh...I feel a religious moment coming on smiley It still surprises me how much money these people have to throw around but hey pays my mortgage so can't complain. Would love to have a Mercedes for someone to prang. I drive around in a clapped out compost and dirt loaded Citroen but what I really want is a truck. Preferably purple with a big pink daisy on the bonnet.smiley
I saw said dinosaur tree at Chelsea last year. You could have one for a snip at 300 pounds! Its called the Wollemi pine. Very historical and all that but actually quite boring unless you like conifers.

HEY MOIRA

YEAH I SELL MY PAINTINGS FAIRLY REGULARLY.

MY MEDIUM IS OIL. HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON GETTING GOOD WITH GUACHE. IM GETTING BETTER BUT WHEN I CRITIQUE MY OWN WORK I AM PRETTY HARSH. I AM WORKING ON A PIECE THAT I AM ALMOST READY TO ACCEPT. I WOULD SAY IN THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO YOU CAN SEE IT IN MY DEVGALLERY. IT IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM MY OILS BUT I STILL LIKE THE LOOK OF IT. ANYWAY I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS UPLOADED. THE LATEST ONE IS OF TWO TRILLIUMS MAKING THEIR WAY THROUGH THE FOREST CARPET OF LEAVES. IT IS OIL ON A 2 FOOT BY 4 FOOT CANVAS.

CHECKED OUT GILLY JOHNS. VERY HAPPY FEEL TO HER STUFF. OVER HERE THERE ARE A FEW LOCAL ARTIST DOING SIMILAR STUFF. THEY ARE EASY TO LOOK AT. SORT OF CAREFREE EASYGOING STYLE THAT APPEALS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. I LIKE IT KIND OF MAKES ME THINK OF JUST WALKING AROUND EATING AN ICE-CREAM.

THAT IS GREAT THAT SO MANY OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS ARE ARTISTS.
IT IS JUST FUN TO BE AROUND IT.

HEY YOU PAINT WITH FLOWERS AND PLANTS THAT TOTALLY COUNTS IN MY BOOKS. GARDENS ARE ARTWORK. IT IS YOUR MEDIUM OF CHOICE.

I THINK I REMEMBER YOUR FIRST PIC. YOUR HOUSE AND FAMILY RIGHT?

HEHEHE MERCEDES, NAH, FANCY PANTS CARS ARE JUST TROUBLE. A TRUCK IS GOLD IN YOUR BUSINESS. YEAH, GO WITH A TRUCK DEFINITELY.

WOLLEMI PINE COOL. WELL AT LEAST YOU HAVE SEEN IT. IF YOU HAD DISCOVERED IT IM SURE YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT IT LESS BORING. HMMM… THE MOIRA PINE….YEAH YOU WOULD BE EXITED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST A CONIFER. HEHEHE

HEY DID YOU SEE “SWEAT MELANCHOLY’S” MONKEY MOVIES IN THE “RATE MY PICTURE” PRETTY DISTURBING.

PEACE OUT JOE

I don't know why but since I have been on here I have never looked at your dev.gallery! Have now. Beautiful Trillium picture and all the others but my favourite is the picture called "dark tops". The sky is beautiful. Did it actually look like that or was there some artistic license used? Its whats called a "mackerel sky" in Cornwall by the local fishermen. Can't see the connection myself. Ties in very nicely with why I like Gilly Johns. She has painted pictures of all our favourite places down there and, yes, I go with the "eating icecreams" thing as we spend most of our holiday time there. It means my living room is full of my holiday memories. Actually more like a second home for us. We have been going there since we were 17 and know all the locals. Some of whom are incredible characters. Especially the old fishermen. Have you ever been there? If you ever get the chance well worth a visit. Would give you lots of inspiration for painting. The place we go is tiny. 1 general store, 1 pub, post office couple of tourist shops and thats about it! Good surfing just round the corner too. The coastline is incredibly rugged and wild and the "secret beach" is crowded if more than 20 people on it. Unheard of in Britain. Most places are heaving cos there are so many people in such a small country.
You remember my first pic! I am impressed. I have saved it so intend putting a revised version back at the end hopefully looking a lot better having learnt a lot from playback.
Moira pine? Does have a certain ring to itsmiley
Sweat Melancholy...I am sure she meant to put sweet...gruesome secret videos aren't they? Have you really shaved your hair off? I could have given you a herbal shampoo recipe. Bit late now. Still good gesture. I wonder how many other people, girls especially, will take notice. I have always been anti animal testing unless it is absolutely necessary for medical research. There are incredibly strict rules in Britain for animal testing and the body shop has been around long enough for no one to use cosmetics etc. tested on animals. Makes me quite sick. If the people vain enough to wear the stuff had to be tested on I am sure they would soon change their minds. They should do an advert like they did for the wearing of animal fur, do you remember it? The one where the model had a beautiful fur coat on that started dripping blood. If they did that with a model all made up and then showed the agony the animals had to go through for a bit of lipstick it may change a few minds...Who knows.
I will get off my soap box now. So many thing in this world make me so angry cos they are so unnecessary. I am anti everybody who is anti somebody or something. Does that make sense? Only problem with that is I would be anti myself. smiley
Moira

I have a custom made computer, the best part of the computer is the awesome keyboard and mouse. Um, the programs she used were 3dstudioMax for the house, and Vue D'Esprit for the environment, she tried world builder, but it sucked.

Lol.
Don't worry Joe, I hit that bag everyday. I do gaming on the side, like when ever I have time, or my shins are too beat up to kick some more.
Isaac:
I just ran into this great free online game called Rappelz. It's really smooth game play, the graphics are amazing for freeware, and it have a THICK quest system.
Although It is one of those games where you just keep on gaining levels, It also have the guild factor going on.(I recently joined a guild of players that are lvl 20ish, but fight like they are 30ish)
But as soon as I get any kind of income, I think I'll save it for Guild Wars 2. Or even the first one.
The seperated wilderness thing sounds cool. I hate playing on MMO's just because people swing by and kill off all of the things you are trying to beat up.
I like to rush lvl up and save skill points untill I hit landmark levels. ie 10. And I also like to fight things that I shouldn't be fighting. Max xp is my goal. D:
So what kind of character do you like to build? I personally like a mix between Tank and Dealer. :]

Yeah, I just found that game recently, Its fairly decent, and really good if you consider that its free. Unfortunately a bunch of people have figured out different ways to cheat to get money, so there is major inflation issues, and anyone who didn't cheat has problems getting money.

For example, people can sell an item to a merchant for 50 rupees, in theory, the price people are supposed to buy the item for is twice as much. But because of the inflation, and the item only being sold by actual people instead of stores, the item costs 500,000 rupees.

On a more important note about gaming, there seems to be more than meets the eye. I invented something called the counterstrike diet, where I have lost about 40 pounds, healthily. So I guess gaming is good for you phisically.

I've also met a bunch of other people from california that play the games, and I invited them to my graduation, it started off as a joke, but I have a feeling they might actually come. So I guess gaming is good socially.

Also, this is more commonly known, people have done tons of studies on it and found out that people who play fast paced games have better hand eye coordination, and tend to think faster, unfortunately this doesn't mean that they are smarter, this just means that if a teacher asks them a question, they can blurt out the wrong answer before anyone else can.smiley

Oh, Mor, apparently a guache is portuguese for "a thin coat (of water-colour paint etc), especially in a painting" or "wash" in english.

Yeah.
Since I was little I played FPS, and then when I FINALLY got to shoot a rifle.
I had surprisingly good accuracy.
Same goes with driving.
If you can drive on a broken steering weel california speedin, or what ever its called, you can drive anything irl.
D:
And I never buy anything on those MMO's anyways.
I always just dueled for them.

hee hee hee, The funny thing is most of my games I've gotten for free (cause I'm so ghetto)

Guild wars was a present, counter strike was a friends account ( he didnt play anymore, so i took over) Oblivion was left at my house by the same friend before he moved to floriday, in fact, Battlefield 2142, and the GW expansion are the only games that I cacn remember actually paying for on the computer.smiley Either I'm a financial genius, or I'm a sneaky lil bugger, either way, i get to play games instead of useless homework.

Woo!
Finally someone with some good reasoning.
I say to my parents "Whats the point of doing homework, when I could be productive and get those three levels I've been looking too for awhile?"
Although I get a cold stare, I just smile and walk away.
And I wish I had friends that would leave over games. D:
If I wan't a game and I don't want to buy it, but a friend has it, I'll go over and 'borrow it'
smiley
Good thing all my friends need my exceptional movie editing skills.
