NEWS RELEASE
For immediate release
The latest step towards breaking the world record for the largest collaborative piece of art takes place today when the One Million Masterpiece launches its site in Spanish. Sponsored by London Translations Limited, the site will encourage the world's 410 million native Spanish speakers to log-on and add their own piece of art to the global canvas.
Over 6000 people from around the world have already joined the One Million Community of 'artists' since it launched on 14 July 2006. By using the internet the intention is to build one, huge, unique picture which will be unveiled in London next year. Five leading international humanitarian, health and environmental charities - Action Aid, Save The Children, Oxfam, World Cancer Relief Fund and WWF - are set to benefit from donations made by contributing artists who include Sebastian Sainsbury, Peaches Geldorf and dramatist Tom Stoppard. The organisers anticipate breaking the current world record in February 2007.
Founder of The One Million Masterpiece, Paul Fisher, is grateful to London Translations Limited for providing the Spanish text: "the team at London Translations have done a great job considering we have made continuing enhancements to the site since they began the work. By opening the project to the Spanish-speaking world we look forward to seeing a wealth of culturally diverse images on our screens".
Peter Bennett, CEO of London Translations Limited adds: "we are delighted to support this record-breaking project because just as in art, our work as translators and interpreters unites people of different cultures. Like Paul and the team we are also committed to raising significant sums for the five charities and urge everyone to take part. My team is currently working on the French and German language sites which are due to launch soon."
Joining The One Million Masterpiece is free. Log-on to www.theonemillionmasterpiece.com and follow the simple instructions. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the international charities can do so securely through the site.
